Causing controversy: Khloe Kardashian
has been criticised by fans online after she posted a meme poking fun at
her and her sisters but referencing the Ku Klux Klan on Tuesday
While
Khloe thought she was showing she was able to have a laugh at her own
expense - captioning the picture 'True' - others were horrified that she
would make light of white supremacist group the Ku Klux Klan.
Backtracking
a few hours later, Khloe removed the post but not before her Instagram
comment section was filled by people who took offense to the joke, with
more than 26,000 people weighing in on whether it was appropriate.
Instagram
user Danasia Sutton said while a fan she was shocked: 'Some people
don't have any type of brains...I love the Kardashians but this is just
distasteful.'
Fellow user, who goes by firstname_georgina, was even more vocal at the controversial post.
Changed mind: Backtracking a few hours
later, Khloe (pictured with ex French Montana on Sunday) removed the
post but not before her Instagram comment section was filled by people
who took offense to the joke
She
wrote: 'This isn't funny at all. Why make jokes about a group that
terrorised and still terroises my people. You're a clown for this. Very
disrespectful and disgusting for this. A joke.'
Many other users felt the post was indicative of the continued racism experienced by African Americas.
Fan k.ashuri commented: 'And people wonder why us as black people say that racism is still alive and well today..this is sad.'
Other fans thought the post was funny as it seems, did Scott, as he did not pull the post down like Khloe.
Kourtney's long-term boyfriend added that he, as a Jew, was also allowed into this particular KKK.
Thought it was funny: Kourtney
Kardashian's long-term boyfriend Scott Disick, pictured last month,
re-posted the picture and added that he, as a Jew, was also allowed into
this particular KKK
Not the only one:
Kim's husband Kanye West, pictured earlier this month, has also drawn
on the imagery of the racist organisation with his video clip for Black
Skinhead, which caused a lot of controversy at the time
Scott's fans were far more supportive of the post, with many laughing and passing it on to others.
Of
course, until recently Khloe was dating Moroccan rapper French Montana
and was previously married to Lamar Odom while sister Kim is married to
Kanye West.

The
KKK remains a presence in America and has since the mid-17th century
been a murderous terrorist group that targeted those of colour and those
who supported equal rights for all races.
While
very active last century, especially in Southern parts of America
during the Civil rights movement, recent estimates suggest there are
still between 5,000 and 8,000 members.
